Capturing the Magic: My Experience as Photographer for Long Beach Walls/Art Renzei 2024
This year, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as the lead photographer for Long Beach Walls, a city-wide event that transforms our streets into a living canvas. Originally planned for a week, the event extended to ten days, packed with creativity, culture, and community.
Long Beach Walls is part of the Worldwide Wide Walls series, aiming to bring art and culture into public spaces. From murals to museum exhibitions, mural tours, artist talks, workshops, block parties, and concerts, the event had it all. As the lead photographer, I had the privilege of documenting every moment, capturing the vibrant spirit and energy that this event brings to our city.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this experience was photographing artists from around the globe. Watching them bring their unique styles and visions to life on the walls of Long Beach was nothing short of magical. Each mural told a story, and being able to capture the process and final masterpieces was a true honor.
Throughout the event, I was constantly inspired by the dedication and talent of the artists. Their work not only beautified our city but also sparked conversations and brought people together. The sense of community and shared appreciation for art was palpable, and I felt privileged to be a part of it.
From early mornings to late nights, I roamed the streets with my camera, eager to capture the essence of Long Beach Walls. The vibrant colors, intricate designs, and the sheer scale of the murals were breathtaking. Each photograph I took was a testament to the creativity and passion that defines this event.
Long Beach Walls is more than just an art event; it's a celebration of creativity, diversity, and community. Being the lead photographer allowed me to see our city in a new light and document the incredible transformation that took place over those ten days. I am grateful for the experience and excited to share the stories and images that highlight the beauty and inspiration of Long Beach Walls.
Enjoy the photos :)
